Wendy's Super Awesome Homemade Laundry Soap!
                                        Part 2.

Yea, lets make some laundry soap! Get the needed items. Remember it's easier than you think, Wayyyy cheaper and fun!

1 Bar of Grated Soap.  Dove, Fels Naptha.  No Ivory! I have tried it doesn't work well... It sucked so bad I threw it away, I couldn't dream of something else to make with it.
9 Cups of water
1 Cup of Borax
1 Cup of Washing Soda
Into a large pan heat 8 cups of water over medium heat. When the water starts to heat and bubble add the grated soap. Stir and cook until the soap and water have become one. Now add the Borax and Washing Soda to the pan. Stir very well and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat. Have your 3 one gallon containers ready. Use that Funnel thing and now evenly divide the soap mixture into each of the 3 one gallon containers. To each container fill half way with warm to hot water and shake to the heck out of each container. Once cooled shake them some more and fill each gallon with warm water 2 to 3 inches from the top. Shake it, Shake it, Shake It! As soon as the soap is room temp. it's ready to go!
Use 1/2 cup per medium to large load of laundry. Super load 3/4 cup works great for us. Need a Stain treat er? Pour your money saving laundry soap directly on the stained area and let it sit for a couple of hours or over night, then wash! My Kids are fillty! This works! If you are using an HE washer No Worries! This soap makes little to No bubbles!
Alright, the cost... Start up: $8.00 ( at Walmart) , $9.00 (at Meijer) and $9.50 (at Kroger). 1 bar of Soap, a box of each Borax and Washing Soda. Remember you will only use 1 cup of each Borax and Washing Soda per Batch. That's 3 gallons of Laundry Soap for approx. $1.75 and 20 minutes of time V.S. 1-64 Load jug of Tide for $6.99!

Happy Memorial Day Weekend!

This weekend there will be little blogging and lots of family time! I am aching to make something... Thursday I ran out of Laundry Soap, my homemade laundry soap that I Love! I had to make more quickly and didn't have time to time pictures. Sorry, whole car buying thing consumed my week. I'm glad it over and I got my new car!
Back to DIY Laundry Soap. There are hundreds of tutorials. Each one seems the same until you get to mixing and cooking it up. I have tried many of them so far. I have my favorite.

Wendy's Homemade Laundry Soap

What you should know before you get started. This recipe will make 3 gallons of Laundry Soap.
You will need 3 clean and empty Gallon size containers, jugs, bottles. Reuse milk, juice jugs. Bleach jug or reuse your old empty laundry detergent container...  We will use one bar of soap. I have tried many types of bar soap for this recipe. Dove bar soap works Great! Fels Naptha Laundry bar soap is also great. You can find Fels Naptha Laundry bar soap in the Laundry/Cleaning alise at your local grocery. Its there!  The pink Dove bar soap is my favorite scent I use it often. Both are wonderful with Wild Man's stained clothes. While you are cruising the grocery grab a box of Borax and a box(or bag) of Washing Soda. WASHING SODA not Baking Soda. They are different. Don't even try it,unless you would like to make a stove top volcano. While I'm telling things not to do. Don't add any type of Oxi Clean to the mix while cooking! Unless you wanna have a stove top volcano/cleaning party. I did it! I ended up making a a Awesome flat stove top range cleaner without paying $6.99 and a big fat mess at 2am...
Back to making the Laundry Soap, Please. You will also will need a grater to grate the bar soap.
Alright, I'm headed to the store. Come back tomorrow to see Wendy's Super Awesome Laundry Soap! Tutorial!

Citrus Enzyme Cleaner Part: 2

Hey Ya'll. Ready for part 2? Here we go!
Go on get your: Empty 1 Litter, 1 Litter of Water, 1/2 cup (packed) Light Brown Sugar, 1 teaspoon Dry Active Yeast, 2 1/2 of Lemons and or Oranges. A useful tool I forgot to tell you about, a chop stick or something similar. You will see.

Now cut your citrus scraps into small pieces. Make sure they will easily fit into the spout of the 2 litter bottle.

Now get out that funnel, or make one out of paper or something and add 1 teaspoon of Dry Active Yeast.

Add 1/2 cup of Light Brown Sugar( packed). This is where that chop stick is sooo handy. Use it to push Light Brown Sugar into the 2 Litter.

Go ahead push in the Citrus (2 1/2 cups approx.).
Sorry I didn't mention this before now, but warm the water by stove top or microwave. Then add to the 2 liter bottle. It should look like this.

Now screw on the cap and gently shake until combined.

Hurry,   loosen the cap! Now! Carefully...
Okay, Good. Because of the fermentation process, gases are forming and building up inside of the bottle.

Slap a start date on that baby and put in a dark, cool place, where it won't be easily disturbed. Take a quick peek every day at your creation. Tighten the cap and give the bottle a few gentle shakes. Loosen the cap, release any gasses, tighten the cap and do it again. Now loosen the cap and put it back in that dark, cool, lonely place until tomorrow.
I know it kinda stinks but just wait in 2 short weeks (or more that's okay) you will need to do this

Strain the contents of the 2 liter into something... Then strain it again. I put the my finished enzymes into container until needed.
Remember you can use your enzymes for All kinds of things. Let me know what you are using them for. Here's my Citrus Enzyme Cleaning uses so far:

Super Dirty Mini Vans 50/50 parts water
Floor Cleaner 1/10 parts water
Bathroom and Sink Cleaner 1/10 parts water.
All used in a 24 oz. spray bottle.
Please Comment with more uses, like me on FB and win a Prize, Yes a real Prize, soon to show up on my new Esty Shop. (Prize will be presented via email June 15, 2012) Stay Tuned and Enjoy!

DIY Citrus Enzyme Cleaner

Say Hello to a Citrus Enzymes! Hello! I found this a little baby on Pinterest. What a great site.I love it and spend far to much time there. My FB friends love to ask questions like, what crafts have you done this week?"... Ha ha HA, Citrus Enzymes!!!
Any ways CITRUS ENZYMES. These enzymes can be used a Wonder, yes, Wonder cleaner. Sounds weird, I know. I gave it a try. So let me explain. Citrus enzymes can be used to clean things such as floors, unclog drains, laundry stains, pet stains, fertilizer for all kinds plants, bathrooms... The list goes on and on.
Sorry to be the one to say it,but there is a trick.  It takes up to 3 months to create.  Boo. Then I found Jillee's pin (from One Good Thing) on the Pinterest stating that she had found a faster way. Yes, score! Now I been making a batch a week with my citrus scraps. Orange, Lemon and a batch of both! They Work Great on tough cleaning jobs!!!
This recipe only takes TWO weeks to make! It has as so turned into a fun to do with my daughter. She loves to check on the enzymes every day.
We are selling my minivan and I wanted a new buyer not to  see the splatters of milk all over  the inside from the Wild Man throwing his slippy cup like a baseball.
I put the finished enzymes in a spray bottle and added 1 part water. I sprayed it all over the plastic like parts inside the van... Gross was the result. This stuff started to remove more cigarette smokey grossness from the owner before me. I wanted a better clean for this nasty job years ago and go figure days before I sell it I finally found the cleaning element to get the job done! Sorry no pictures of before and after. Please believe me is was nasty...
Then I used 1 gallon water to 1/2cup of enzymes to mop my laminate kitchen floor. Great results!
Wanna Give it a Try?  Get  1 clean and empty 2litter bottle, 1/2 cup Brown Sugar, 1 litter of good, clean water(I filter mine, its up to you) 1 teaspoon of any Active Dry Yeast and about 2 1/2 cups of Orange, Lemon or both. Scraps work great or you can simply cut up a few whole ones. Measure 2 1/2 cups and a Funnel. Get the above goods and I will you tomorrow!!!!

More Please!

Cleaning with Vinegar

For the past couple of months I have been pursuing "other" ways of effective household cleaning. Why? Well, my little Wild Man, loves to help Mama. He likes to "spray" the cleaner and try to wipe it away. As his Mama, I have felt bad many times because regular household cleaners not safe for a toddler and can't be trusted for them to really help clean with. Just water does Not cut it,or clean it. I went to my friend Google for help. Searching with key words like, green cleaning, kid safe, DIY cleaning... DIY did it! VINEGAR! Duh, why didn't I think of this? I'm sure my Mom has mention Vinegar? I spent a good hour reading and jotting down, ways of cleaning with this element. I remembered, I have a jug of this money saving cleaning GOLD,in the very back of the pantry. I ran across a blog called the The New Homemaker. Which gave me a Very helpful start!
I started testing the New cleaner by putting 2 parts vinegar and 2 parts water in a spray bottle. Spraying it on Everything in need of cleaning(almost the whole damn neighborhood, kidding). I liked! It seemed Too easy... More research... I found a DIY surface cleaning on Pinterest. 1 tsp. Borax, 1tsp. Washing Soda, 3 tbsp. Vinegar, 1 1/2 tsp liquid soap into a 24oz spray bottle and then fill with hot water! I wanted to try this. It was Thursday. I try to do my shopping on Tuesday... Wildman and I were off to the store. threw the above items into the cart and some beef jerky! I love beef jerky. Sorry.Anyways we raced home to mix it. This surface cleaner seemed to work well! I tested it on the counters, toilet,counters... Only 9 cents to make. This seems a little Crazy?? 9 cents... The surface cleaner I normally buy is $3.79, if I don't get it on sale and of course without a coupon(I hate coupons, but I try to use them) This DIY Surface cleaner works Great! Its cheap and Wildman can help me spray, as long as he doesn't drink it. Awesome! Give it a try! It works Great!
  Have a Great Day!
